Community Connectors

Community Connectors

STAR have been delivering Community Connectors training events in Nottinghamshire and Newcastle. The key aim of our training is to create cohorts of people, mainly but not exclusively in recovery, who act as ‘human bridges’ to support recovery journeys. Community Connectors actively champion and promote connections to positive community assets across various key areas (sport, art and recreation; education, training and employment; volunteering and community engagement; recovery support and mutual aid groups; and spirituality and religion).

Community Connectors training also utilises Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) which is the process of identifying the resources available in a community to support people in their own recovery journey or for those struggling to cope with the addiction of a family member. Community Connectors training helps people develop the skills required to work as part of a group that can support recovery journeys, whilst growing and developing themselves as active champions for the community.
